Question: How do I choose the right length overcoat?

Our stylist answers:

The right length of an overcoat will depend on your personal style and preferences. Some people prefer a longer overcoat that goes down to their knees, while others prefer a shorter overcoat (known as a car coat or a 3/4 length coat) that ends just below the hips. A good rule of thumb is to try on a few different lengths and see which one looks and feels the most comfortable to you. Keep in mind that the overcoat should be long enough to keep you warm, but not so long that it gets in the way when you walk or sit down. If you are very active, opt for a shorter length. If you prefer maximum coverage, a longer length would be a good fit for you. Bear in mind that a full length overcoat is more formal looking than a car coat is.

The Suit Depot carries 3/4 length overcoats and full length overcoats. Our 3/4 length overcoats and full length overcoats are made from a warm and soft wool cashmere blend, and are available in black, navy blue, brown, camel tan, charcoal, light gray, hunter green, and burgundy. A fan favorite, we stock sizes extra small through big-and-tall.
